El Espartano

Faena Hotel Buenos Aires

Conceived by the Argentine impresario Alan Faena, this exclusive hotel occupies the building El Porteño, an architectural work strategically positioned in the Eastern Puerto Madero district. The interior of the hotel is the work of the French industrial designer Philippe Starck, recognized the world over for the functionality and the aesthetic of his works.

The firm El Espartano was called upon to give, through its carpets, further expression to the unique style of the site’s Parisian creator. In the rooms rugs were installed, woven on Wilton Jackard looms, rugs distinguished for their plan bright red background and a border designed by Starck himself. For the corridors a carpet with a solid black background was chosen with the same design as in the rooms, only in shades of gray and white.

Alan Faena, creator of the project, defined the style of the hotel as “Empire,” a blend of Louis XVI and various modern details.
